Gas shortage!
If you live in Asheville, you know how hard it is to find gas! For those of you out of the area, gas is nearly impossible to get here right now. I spoke for the PPA in Tennessee earlier this week (more about that in a forthcoming post) and returned to find that the hard-to-find fuel situation had escalated drastically while I was away. Now, IF stations have any gas, which hardly any of them do, it's only for about an hour or so until they run out... and you have to wait in a line that's about 2+ hours long... you do the math. Needless to say, there are fights breaking out all over town and stores and business are starting to close up. All that to say that we'll be limiting the time we will be spending in the studio to conserve as much fuel as possible. We're still keeping our appointments (assuming our clients have gas to get to us!) and we're still happy to meet with people anytime. people are really carrying on and FIGHTING?---good lord!
As I was waiting in line yesterday morning at 5:45am so I could get enough gas to make it to work (later that day they announced they were closing for the next two days because of the shortage! Woo hoo ~ free vacation days!), I saw a guy screaming at a police officer who was telling him to not block traffic as he was waiting to turn in to the gas station. The cop immediately pulled him out of line and gave him a ticket. I think the guy was more upset by being made to get out of the line than to get the ticket.
I've been conserving all week in order to get to an amazing wedding at Pretty Place (S.C.) this weekend.
This is crazy!
