Company Retreat
We had a great week in Charleston last month! We were down there for a few reasons, but mainly for our first annual company retreat. In addition, the Open Souce Photo conference (at which Nathan, Amber, and myself were speaking or leading shooting groups) was being held there, so the timing worked out well. Jill, Jeremy, his wife Kirsten, our studio manager Katie, and her husband Zac rounded out the group of 8 for the week. We had several business-related meetings and shoots scheduled, plus lots of time to just hang out, explore the Charleston area, play some Guitar Hero, and watch some movies... so it was a fun-filled week, with work and productivity thrown in! I really liked the house we rented for the week... it was in a super cool setting right on the marsh in Wild Dunes... wildlife abounds!
I wanted a group shot of everyone and I actually mounted a camera on a bike, set with an intervalometer, and was trying to get a shot as we all rode around, but some of the group had to take off early, and there were so many variables involved, so we didn't have time to play with it long enough for my vision to become a reality. Instead, Nathan suggested we set up a shot with remote speedlights. Awesome idea! Between us all we pulled together enough speedlights to get the fun shot above. Below are a few shots from the week, most of which were taken around the house.

A few Charleston shots...
I've not had time to really go through the photos from the week, but here's a quick slideshow of a few early picks that I thought the retreat attendees might enjoy: click here.

I'm continually impressed by your wedding photography but it is a treat to see more of your nature shots! Amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Man, I wish we were still there. That was a great time... That was the start of Zac's love, errr, obsession with Guitar Hero.
Katie, I believe that was when Zac schooled Amber in Guitar Hero... :)
Hey now. Y'all don't get all nasty. There was no "schooling". I felt sorry for him, that's all ;)
