Technology is amazing!

My dear friend Amber has been in town for the last week while her husband Nathan is away in Canada attending photographers Gary Fong's and Missy Carl's wedding.

We were sitting at the studio working on a plethora of things, including my upcoming workshop, when Amber got a video chat invitation from Nathan. With the video chat connected, and Nathan's computer placed on a balcony overlooking an amazing ceremony site, we were able to watch the ceremony virtually!

We couldn't pass up the opportunity to photograph such a fun occasion, so here are a few images of us being a part of a ceremony taking place in Kelowna, Canada, while sitting in the studio in Asheville, NC!

Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine real wedding published!!!

I'm super excited to say that in addition to one of my favorite cake images being published in the latest issue of Grace Ormonde, available nationwide, (also, check out my latest full-page ad), today they published a real wedding of mine online! Hadley and Kevin had a beautiful wedding on New Year's Eve, complete with a bonfire and fireworks! They're a great couple, wonderful clients, and I'm happy to say we have become friends too!

Click here to see the wedding online.

And here's the actual cake shot that was published from Paige's and David's wedding:

I'm very sad to report that my friend and fellow photographer, Jose Gonzalez, has recently passed away. Jose and I were students together at the Mike Colon workshop last February. For those of you that didn't know Jose, he was a very talented photogapher with a great sense of humor. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Here's a shot of Jose and Mike shooting together in Laguna Beach:

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of being a guest speaker at LaCour's latest workshop. There was much learning to be had, and much fun as well. We had a lighting demo by Andrew one evening, went bowling one night (look at that form!), socialized a bunch, got to take some pics with an Aston Martin, and played a mean game of poker the last night. We didn't have poker chips so we had to use coins, advils and tylenols...it looked like some kinda crazy party, but it was good clean fun!

Workshop attendees included Eric Laurits (Eric, the song choice is for you), Brian and Gry, Charles, Mike Buoy, Tina Carter, Jason Cohen, John Heisel, Michael Hooks, Nancy Jo McDaniel, Ty Miller, Wendi Poole, Jay Premack, and Patrick Williams.

New McWorkshop guest speaker added!

Hi all,

For those of you already signed up for my next workshop, you're in for a treat!

And to those who haven't yet...check this out:

We've added another guest speaker today! In addition to Parker Pfister and Amber Holritz, today we added Tara Jordan. Ok, I know, you're like "who dat?"

She's not a photographer, but you're gonna love this I think....I know I would. Tara is a wedding coordinator!

Tara Jordan, of Weddings with Tara, will discuss what wedding planners look for in a photographer and why those relationships are vital to maintain. Having been married recently herself, she’ll also talk to us candidly about why she forfeited her deposit with one photographer to hire another. This is some really valuable insider information to which photographers are rarely privy!!

In my opinion, her presentation alone would be worth the tuition! There's more information here.

Still thinking about signing up? Hurry! Early registration ends on August 8th...just a few days away! Don't miss out!

While in Atlanta for the latest LaCour workshop, we had a minute one night in front of the hotel and took advantage of a new Aston Martin DB9 parked by the door. I'll post more photos of the workshop soon, but wanted to share this fun. Jason Cohen grabbed these shots of me and even had two other workshop attendees hold his flashes.
